1st Chinese dinner in Germany

Today I went to my faculty again for course registration stuff. I coudn't find Nina, but the lady at the office was very kind to bring me to my course teacher, Eric. There he helped me to open an account at CS dept. I told him I find him quite strange here, that there is no advisors for the students.

At night, I met my netpal Shi Guang, a mainland student, with his 3 other friends here. My impression is: Mainland students always think HK people should learn well Mandarin. One of them spoke to me in English or German whenever I don't understand the Mandarin equivalent. -_-"" I found what they cooked are too hot for me, and they also said they don't find HK food tasty. I had my first glass of beer in Germany tonight, from Chinese students.... :p

Visiting my faculty and Nina

Finally I knew how to obtain my Stipendium at the ZIB. I have to collect the money in person every month at the Uni-kasse. I asked my Hausmeister and got to know how to reach my faculty at Sand by Bus 2. There I met Nina, a bioinformatik advicer there, who have helped me since I was in HK. At the evening, Hui brought me to Pennymarkt. My faculty at Sand 13 Posted by Picasa

Immatrikulation (Continue...)

I went to pay the Einschreibungsgebuehr in the morning, and then came to the Burgersamt by accident, and filled in a form with many difficulties (all instructions and fields are in German!!) for address registration and temporary resident permit application. Then I applied for the Gesundheitsicherung at AOK, Mensa. 62 € registration fee and AOK insurance Posted by Picasa The I went to O2 to get a prepaid handykarte. It costs 3-4 HKD per air minute. I purchased the Reinigung token from the Hausmeister, 10HKD per token. Met Jenya at Bibliothek, and she brought me around the Altstadt. Then Britta brought me to Baumau to buy Vorhang, and Kaufsland to buy Kleidebuerge. Britta showed me her WG, and at there I also met Christine. My O2 LOOP card and Britta's WG Posted by Picasa

Immatrikulation procedures prolog

I found Frau Lohmiller to pay the room deposit, but then I could not find the Hausmeister to pick up the keys. Then Jo accompanied me to buy the semester ticket at the Neckerbruecke, because without it a single bus trip costs 1,8 €. Then I opened a bank account at Kransparkasse, the lady there did not bother to explain to me the regulations in German, and just asked me to sign here and there. Then I picked my immatrikulation documents in the Studentensekretariat at Wilhelmstraße, with so many people queuing. When I returned to Fichtenweg, I found the Hausmeister by waiting for another 30 min outside his office. The Hausmeister explained the things to me, and said the Washbecken and the Wasserhahn are broken, and having no Vorhang is my own problem. Dorm room without Vorhang and my lunch at X, Altstadt.
