Typing crisis

Spent half an hour before I found out how to type ü with pinyin input. Haven't figured out how to type angle brackets <> using a U.S. keyboard with German keyboard remapping. Where is the mapping for the extra key?! Please let me know if you know how. Where is the mapping for the extra key next to 'Y' in a U.S. keyboard?
