The Color Orange

Even though I am very much against all the protests attacking the Olympic Torch bearers, I think my Island is going to sink when things like this happened... I agree with Laurent, the majority of people are sheep. We all heavily rely on, may I say, biased American and European media for collecting information, and decide to support or deny a notion when we don't even know what the reality is. But it is also an undeniable fact that Human Rights is under-prioritized in the developed cities in China; All sorts of absurdities happen in China because of those heartless corrupted government officials.

In 10 years time

Yesterday, the COO of former Reuters, Devin Wenig, visited the HK office. It was a big event in the office, and the HR did a lot of (to me) unnecessary preparations, e.g. hiding all the rubbish bins, plugging off the telephone line on every desk, asking all the colleagues for a rehearsal to ensure there would be a hand-clapping crowd for his speech (one was almost assigned a particular place to stand), hiding all the green Reuters Messaging dolls on the desks, etc. The funniest thing being Devin discovered the same colleague appeared in 2 sessions of his talk, because the HR wanted a bigger crowd of audiences. Heading a company at 40. Isn't it one of those admirable legends? Despite all the marketed imagines, I guess, he is still a cool person.

Time Management Theory

A summary of the time management theory I learnt back some years ago in Böblingen.

The "Living Wheel" consists of "Well-being", "Occupation & Carrier", "Relationship", "Health & Fitness", "Family", "Personal development", and "Spiritual"

A person works most efficiently at 10am, and the 2nd peak is at 8pm. It explains why it is best to go to bed at 10-11pm and wake up at 6-7am

A person's concentration power climbs slowly in the first 5 minutes. It remains quite steady for an hour, and then it drops quickly. Basically it means a break is desirable after every hour of work.

One should plan only 60% of his/her time, 40% are left for spontaneous and unexpected events.

Early Church History

Read an article about early church history. I think this is informative, especially to know there is an early church leader who thinks the OT is inconsistent with the NT. There are a few points which I cannot agree though: "這些人、這些團體,都是先有他們的哲學前提,再來決定他們需要哪一種正典,而正統的基督教就不一樣了;我們是先有聖經正典,我們再來發展信仰教義。" When the Bible canon was developed, there was already some "criteria" (書捲的評鑑標準) to select which books are included in the Canon. Aren't these criteria some theological foundations? This is something which sounds quite irrational to me. :p

Thomson Reuters

The Town Hall@Sharaton and the circuit on my desk Posted by Picasa

The only question which I wanted to ask in the Town Hall must be.... if the HK Office will lose its importance in the new Thomson Reuters.

Last day in Reuters

My project team Posted by Picasa

16th April is my last day in Reuters, not because I have quited my job, but Reuters is acquired by Thomson, and is closed. The new company is called Thomson-Reuters. It is always difficult for me to imagine how this big giant information provider could be acquired....

A new dream

Actually after visiting the Chinese village in March, I have a new thought. I want to open some sort of tour agency organizing some mission trips to a small village. The natural scenes there are no less beautiful than the ones in Europe or in Japan. Everything is still very cheap in China. I know a friend who likes to live in a Chinese village, and another friend who is a tour guide in China. This idea is challenging and fun enough to realize, because in China there all sorts of weird problems to deal with. Someday maybe I will be crazy enough to realize my dream.

Chris' Bday Party

Posted by Picasa

Chris' Bday party at Tung Bo Seafood Restaurant at Java Road's market. The German guy who traveled many more than me last year. We always ask the same trivial questions in daily life, e.g. how to know if a US phone number is mobile or landline. The conclusion is, there is no way.

A lost soul, so he commented about himself. To me, at least his life is full of exciting experiences, and he seems to enjoy it, sometimes? His gf is an interesting person too.
