Day 2 in London

Uxbridge town center and robbery Posted by Picasa Cousin had classes in the morning. We went to the town center by foot in the afternoon. It was very windy in London. The town center has two big shopping malls, so even not in Central, London is a really big city. And crime is so common in a big city, so we saw a robbery when we had chicken pies inside a shop. We saw how efficient are the London police... :p Portugese grilled chicken and Graffiti in a subway Posted by Picasa Had grilled chicken as dinner. Went through a subway painted all over with Graffiti. Walked around the campus. It was a nice day.

Day 1 in Seoul and London

Incheon Airport and SsambabPosted by Picasa My mother acompanied my to the HK airport. It was in mid-night. Then I took the Asiana airline to Seoul: Incheon I18l Airport (my favorite airport). I spent some 10 hours there: sleeping on the bench, looking around the stores, watching magazine, watching paper... On the flight I sat with two Korean girls, who speak very little English. And they told me they are going to spend a month in Europe (to me, they are very brave) Heathrow and Cousin's dorm Posted by Picasa Arrived at Heathrow Terminal 4 at almost 6pm. I was shocked by the rudeness of the customs. A custom shouted at a Korean student, "Do you know you are only a student here, and you are suppose to queue there (non-resident), and you can't just come to the front. YOU SHOULD QUEUE. Do you understand English? DO YOU UNDERSTAND?". So this is my first impression about London. :p My cousin picked me up at Heathrow. There is a bus from the airport to his university. At night I had dinner with Tiffany and Angela. Student's life in London.

Mental illness....

Returned home from some shopping and read an interesting blog (You may also call it a blog revealing symtoms of mental illness LOL). I am now totally convinced that there are patterns in characters.

Accenture Campus Challenge

Interview in HK

Today I had an interview at a company of my dream types. Unfortunately my performance was extremely poor, and naturally I didn't get the job. It was nonetheless an interesting experience. I was interviewed by two expats and two Asian mixed (I cannot stop my prejudice that this game in Asia is monopolized by these people). Peter shot at me all the agressive questions in an agressive manner: 1) What does an E in Pure Mathematics mean? You don't like Math? Have you taken any Math in Univeristy? Do you know what is an integral? What is differentiation? And What is the relationship between them? 2) You had a lot of German sausages? 3) Where did you fly through to Hawaii? 4) Do you like writing C++ or Excel more? 5) Which companies have you applied? I think it's a IT/banks/consultancies 6) You should put down "Immediately for interview" at your resume. Yet, when coming to describing his clients and his job, he explained in a rather serious manner. All four of them told the clients are extremely busy and stressful, who are impatient and don't have any time to lose for anyone. They sometimes just shout at you, and they told you something, and the next time they forget and you are the one to be blamed. (I ask myself why I'd want to try working at hell...) So what'd I do next in the next 6 months?

Exciting news from project!!

Today I received an email from the project:

Diese Woche findet kein Meeting statt, aber vergeßt nicht, die Dokumentation zu schreiben! Bisher habe ich noch nichts neuesgesehen!

Response: Yes, I also notice this... :p

Reponse: I also want to go!!! But am I too small a potato to be qualified?!

Nicht vergessen, Siemens' top management is watching you. Also nicht vergessen, Doku zu schreiben.

Response: Why is there suddenly a sentance in English inside a full page of German? Am I the shooting target for not writing the documentations...?! :p

Day 4 in Reykjavik

I went to the family zoo alone in the morning. It was a very small zoo. At noon I met up with Jo and Chihiro, using our day-visitor-card heading to the town center. The Perlan and the Church Posted by Picasa We first went to the Perlan, there was another small geysir there. At that small hill, there is a nice view over Reyjavik. Walked a long way finding a bus station, and then took off at the wrong bus station. After we visited the National Gallery, it's almost 5, when everything begins to close. We still have a little time to walk to the seaside for the weekend flee-market. Except the seafood, many products maybe produced from China?! We bought some fish from the flee market and cooked our dinner at the hostel. Okay, but the fish was already maninated, and we added extra salt and soya sauce, so it was very salty...

Day 3 in Reykjavik

Today we joined another tour to Blue Lagoon. Without renting a car, bascially you can only join the local tours organized by iceland traveling agencies. We spent a whole day there for the hot spring and the sauner. The Blue Lagoon natural hot spring Posted by Picasa At night, we had our only big meal in Iceland at the Restuarant at Blue Lagoon. We had a fish called Splaice(?) and scallops. It was very delicious (although anything can be delicious considering we had only bread and cup noodles). The main dish costed 1850 Kr. (~26 Euro). There was also a dessert called "Skyir". So in a resturant, the price is comparable to Zurich, but in the supermarket, Reykjavik is far more expensive. Day 2 in Reykjavik

Early in the morning, we joined the Golder Circle tour for Viking horse riding. These horses are smaller and with a shorter face. (My thighs are extremely painful after I return to Tuebingen, and I also had a bruise on my leg :p). The stones and the grasses around the Gulfoss were all frozen by ice. But the weather in Iceland was very fine, much better than in Europe with snows. A Viking horse and the Gulfoss Posted by Picasa Then we went to see a Geysir. This natural water fountain explodes every 5 minutes. The ground is full of holes with steams. Next we visited a crater formed from a volcano. Through out Iceland is a natural and exotic atmosphere. A Geysir and the Kerio volcanic crater Posted by Picasa Our tour bus drove also to a part of the Pingvellir National Park. At the evening we went to a supermarket in the city center to buy food, and then walked for some 1 hour back to the hostel, because taking the bus is too expensive... :p

Day 1 in Reykjavik

Originally I'd go with Jo from Tuebingen to Frankfurt Airport. But I was one bus late and thought she might have left, and she was 1 hour late and missed the cheap train... So finally we gather at Iceland Air check-in counter and also met Juko's friend Chihiro. After we arrived at Rekjavik, we took the Flybus from the airport to the city hostel. We had a room for 6 people. Perlie, Juko and Asami were already there. This hostel is much worse than the one in Berlin, but much more expensive... (21.x Euro per night without hostel card in a 6 person-room, without bed linen, bathroom, nor breakfast) Aurora Borealis Hunt + Our food at Rekjavik City Hostel Posted by Picasa At night we joint a tour for the Aurora Borealis hunt. We really saw it, but it was not so colorful, maybe that day the activity level was too low (1/10)? The food in Rekjavik is super expensive. A loaf of bread costs 2-3 Euro. Through out our stay, we had only bread and cup noodles...
